From Kafka's "In The Penal Colony" comes "Zoetrope," director Charlie Deaux's richly atmospheric film that casts a spell of fear and terror well beyond its eighteen-minute length. Deaux's impressive list of collaborators includes renowned dark-ambient composer Lustmord | Brian Williams, whose musical score perfectly compliments the cinematography of James Hawkinson (The Unborn, The Hitcher) Robert Beebe contributed Oxberry animation for the film's titles. Lee Cowan of Marmalade edited the film, with Nathan McGuinness and Andy Davis of Asylum VFX supervising post-production. "Zoetrope" was produced by Mellissa Berry.

"The world of "Zoetrope" is absolutely impeccable. Charlie Deaux has created a nightmarish vision of man crushed and destroyed by the mechanistic devices of science, politics and bureaucracy. Beautiful in its brutality, poetic despite being so unrelentingly grim, Zoetrope is a must see in the world of post-apocalyptic film that marks Deaux as a significant talent, a man who needs to be watched." -Todd Brown, Twitch

"Deaux interprets Kafka's "In the Penal Colony" brilliantly ... Fans of David Lynch and The Brothers Quay will find a kindred spirit in the fearsome beauty and chilling atmosphere. Deaux's film traps you in mysterious, dark nightmare, no matter how fast you run, it will always be with you" -Vincent Faust, DeviantArt

"Zoetrope" is a trip. Deaux has interpreted Kafka and made it his own peculiar vision of alienation, torture, and mind-bending depravity. The stark cinematography and expressionistic art direction are aptly nightmarish. The excruciating pace grinds along with the slow turns of thumbscrews. Watch it with a stiff drink. -Scott Kosar, Writer ("The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" "The Amityville Horror" "The Machinist")

" ... a fascinating feast of dark visuals. Part dream, part nightmare, pure genius." -Gregg Hale, Haxan ("The Blair Witch Project" "Seventh Moon")
